Dawna Sigurdson

I am Dawna Sigurdson, School Psychologist and Coordinator of the Central Region Autism Spectrum Disorders Team (CRASDT). My current position allows me to serve as a School Psychologist for a few schools in the ESU 10 area as well as Coordinator of  CRASDT .

My educational background includes a B. A in Social Work at the University of Wyoming, a M.S in Education in Agency Counseling and Ed. S. in  School Psychology.  I have been a school psychologist for ten years at ESU 10. My job experiences have included working as a Special Needs Counselor at UNK where I provided services to students with disabilities and acted as a liaison between student and instructors. I also worked as a social worker in a nursing home and a psychiatric setting at Hastings Regional Center (HRC). At HRC I served not only the adult population; I worked in the adolescent unit and the outpatient services for diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents.

Since beginning my position as Coordinator of the Central Region ASD Team I have had the opportunity of training in numerous areas including structured teaching, using picture communication systems, Aspergers Syndrome, teaching literacy to students with severe/profound mental handicaps, Pivotal Response Teaching, teaching basic language and learning skills, assessing students for ASD, and COACH. I look forward to learning and sharing additional information on other topics as the school year progresses.
